Henri Lloyd announces double partnership with J70’s – World Championship and UK Class for 2019.
There are over 50 teams racing in British waters and over 120 teams are expected to line up in August for the J / 70 Worlds, hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club. Racing for the Grand Slam series starts 13th of April and concludes on the 27th of October for the UK class. The J70 class has enjoyed continued growth and success over the last few seasons and 2019 is set to be another record-breaker with key events across the calendar, culminating with the J70 Nationals and Worlds, hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club in August this year.
As part of the deal, Henri Lloyd will be offering a range of benefits to class members and World Championship entrants including a merchandise range to commemorate the event. In addition prizes will be presented to the best performing crews in the J-Cup regatta, Grand Slam series and World Championship.
Henri Lloyd have also announced that May 29th will witness the launch of a brand new collection. Full details of the range will be announced at the launch, but will include new features, new fit and above all, brand new materials that have all been targeted towards the modern keelboat racer. The product line consists of Gore-Tex® Jackets, Pants & Super-comfortable Intermediate layers which perform on and offshore.
CEO of Henri Lloyd, Magnus Liljeblad says; “The J70 is a very interesting boat type. Not only because it is one of the world’s fastest growing one-design classes, but we have also included J70 sailors within our product development with the aim of developing lightweight, flexible and functional garments for active sailing. By focusing on developing new performance garments for J70 sailors by J70 sailors, we believe we have also created a strong link with sailors everywhere who place high demands on their performance wear. We see that the trend with Team clothes is very interesting and not only for performance wear. Sailors are telling us that the process is too complicated and that the lead times are too long, which is stopping them creating strong unique identities for their teams. Solving this problem has formed the basis of our our product development and the offering to teams going forward. During Summer 19 we will be introducing a completely unique concept and can offer unique color combination with short lead times and above all it will be easy to carry out its design, apply boat names, sponsors and sail numbers. This refers to everything from Gore-Tex® garments to Piquet Polos.”
